2024 State Champs Team Announcement

Congratulations to all our athletes who have been selected to play in a Wolves team for State Champs 2024. We were excited to see a record number of athletes at trials this year and we have some great talent ready to hit the floor in green. If you have not made a team, we thank you for participating in the trials, and for all your efforts during the sessions. We wish you well in your future basketball endeavors and hope you’ll be back to tryout again next year. If you did make a team, keep in mind that selections are for State Champs only. The State Champs trainings and tournament are a part of our tryout process and player movement will occur following State Champs, leading into Grading/WABL Season.

*Players are not guaranteed a spot for WABL 2025, teams may change based on performance.*

Below are the team lists for each age group (Click the box to view the team list).

Under 11’s

Under 13’s

Under 15’s

Under 17’s

Under 19’s & Under 20’s

If you’ve been selected, these are your next steps:

STEP 1. Confirm and accept your roster spot. To do this, you need to:

Register and pay the State Champs fees by the 13th of November using the link below. The fee for State Champs is $137 per player and includes referee fees. In addition, PlayHQ charge a 1.9% processing fee per transaction. You will no longer be required to pay cash on the day for Referees. The above fees cover the cost completely for trainings, games and referees for the period of the 27th of October – 15th of December.

To finalise the registration you must have paid.

For more information on the Player Acceptance Procedure, click the link below:

Agree to the players/parents code of conduct. The code of conduct for players and parents can be found in the links below. Within the registration process from the link above, you will need to agree to the WBA player and parent codes of conduct.

Players agreeing to their spot on a State Champs team are committing to also accept a position on a WABL team if they are chosen. Players that do not uphold this commitment (play State Champs, are then selected to a WABL team at Wolves, but decline), become ineligible for selection into Wolves teams for the next WABL season.

For those who did not review the Player Selection Policy prior to tryouts, the link is below. The biggest thing to note, is that after thorough review, we have improved our selection process to better suit the needs of our association fielding a record number of teams. For the second year in a row, the Team 3 all bottom age rule is replaced with the Rule of 15 and Rule of 21 (meaning there must be 15+ bottom age players in teams 1-4, and 21+ bottom age players in total, for the entire age group. The Team 3 rule was enacted when most of our age groups maxed out at 3 teams, so now that we have 5 teams in each age group, our selection policy has been updated. Top-age players are now eligible to be selected into all teams, including Team 3.

If you do make a WABL team, it is a requirement that all WABL players MUST play in the Wanneroo Basketball Association Winter Junior Domestic Competition. This will mean registering with a domestic club that will carry additional fees.

Fees for a WABL player (if the player makes a WABL team following State Champs) are broken up into fees for Grading and the WABL Season.

  • Grading – $137 including referee fees (Plus a 1.9% PlayHQ processing fee).
  • WABL Season – $540 (Plus a 1.9% PlayHQ processing fee)
    • Further information regarding WABL Season fees and payment due dates will be sent out prior to the WABL Season.

STEP 2: Come to training, work hard, and be a good teammate.

  • Training starts Sunday, the 27th of October. The training schedules can be viewed below.
  • Trainings for the State Champs period run until the 15th of December, even if your team plays on an earlier weekend.

STEP 3: Get State Champs ready

  • All Participants must have WABL Shorts and Mouthguards.
  • You will also be required to wear a Wolves reversible for trainings and a Warm Up Shirt (long sleeve) on gamedays.
  • Please see the mandatory, recommended and optional uniform list found here.
  • All items can be purchased via  www.wolfpackwear.com.au.

*PLEASE NOTE – Any player who is deemed unfinancial to the association (i.e. has outstanding fees with WBA) will be ineligible to participate in State Champs and WABL until all fees are paid*
