The Meneghello Industrial Group Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the signing of 6’1 US Guard Sharif Black until the end of 2027!

“It feels amazing to be a part of such a great club, I’ve heard nothing but good things from the players, coaches and the whole organization. I know this is a great fit and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of something special.

“I want to bring a lot of winning energy, being competitive every day, pushing my teammates, and doing whatever it takes to help them team succeed.

“Fans can expect someone who stays locked in and competes. My only goal is to win and I’ll do whatever it takes to help the team, from scoring/rebounding to getting every 50-50 ball.”

A 6’1 Guard from Detroit, Michigan, Sharif most recently played for the Sturt Sabres in the NBL1 Central, where he averaged 23.7 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists across his 18 games during the 2025 season. Highlighting not only his scoring ability but also his skill set all around the court, Sharif’s best game of the 2025 season came against the West Adelaide Bearcats, where he finished with 43 points, including 7-11 from the three. To go with his massive score, he also had 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

Before joining Sturt, Black spent his 2024 season with the Woodville Warriors also in the NBL1 Central, where he played 18 games and averaged 22 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. From 2022 to 2023, Sharif played for the McKinnon Cougars in the Big V, with the Cougars taking out the Championship during 2023. In 2022, Black was named as the All-Australian Big V Player of the Year, as well as being selected for the All-Australian Big V First Team between the 2022-2023 seasons.

Men’s Head Coach Lucas Allen spoke on signing Sharif for the upcoming season.

“Sharif Black is a high‑level combo guard who has succeeded at every level he’s played. His skill set, poise, and basketball maturity give us another dynamic option in our backcourt.

“A big focus for us in recruitment this season was finding the right fit — not just on the floor, but off it as well. We believe Sharif is exactly that. He complements our group with his professionalism, competitiveness, and ability to connect with teammates.

“I’ve known Sharif, and coached against him for a while now, so it’s a pleasure to finally have the opportunity to team up with him here at the Wolves. When you add someone you’ve long respected from the opposite bench, it’s a great feeling.”

Sharif is our fourteenth Men’s player signing ahead of the 2026 NBL1 West Season. To see Sharif Run with the Pack in 2026, you can purchase your membership here.
