The Chambers Franklyn City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce that Jordan Wellsteed has re-signed for the 2025 NBL1 West season.

Jordan has been instrumental to the Wolfpack’s success, captaining us to two Preliminary finals in the last two years through his incredible leadership and intensity on the court. Not one to shy away from a big task, Wellsteed is always reliable on the defensive end, often guarding some of the biggest names in the NBL1 West League.

The Wolves Captain notched up his 250th game during Heritage Round this year after debuting in 2014 for Wanneroo in the SBL. Since then, Wellsteed has played for the Wolves in eight seasons, claiming one Championship and playing in four more grand finals.

Jordan is one of the prime examples of a player who truly Bleeds Green, and we cannot wait to see him again in 2025.

When asking about the value of having Wellsteed as part of the team for another season, Men’s Head Coach David Morrell said, “Captain Jordy is a crucial, foundational piece for us and has been every year I’ve been at Wolves. As a lead-by-example type of captain, he is symbolic of everything we have and will continue to build over the past 3 seasons.

He works his butt off. He is a top-flight defender who is happy to play a significant role by guarding the opponent’s best player without stressing about how many shots or points he gets on the offensive side of the ball. He puts the team’s achievements over his achievements. But he’s also very talented in his role and is a big contributor to winning.

A Wolfpack team without Jordy Wellsteed wouldn’t feel like a Wolfpack team. So we are delighted to have him back as our team’s captain for 2025.”

On continuing his career with the Wolves, Wellsteed said, “I’m super excited to be back with the Wolves in 2025. Looking forward to getting back out there after the disappointing finish to last season.

It’s a blessing to play for such a professional organisation, and I’m thankful to Andrew and David for their continued belief in me. I’m also excited to compete with the same core group of guys and our new additions, as I know we are all hungry for success.

It would mean the world to me to bring home another championship to this club and reward the Wolfpack community for their everlasting support.

I know the competition is constantly getting stronger, but I genuinely feel like we have the roster to bring home a championship, and I’m hungrier than ever to do whatever it takes to win. Bring on 2025!”
