The Chambers Franklyn City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the re-signing of guard, Luca O’Brien for the 2024 NBL1 West season.

Luca is a young, hardworking individual who is committed to team success and team culture. As the Captain of our Championship Division Men in 2023, Luca has shown his ability to lead with confidence whilst consistently showing improvement in his own game on the court.

Wolfpack fans will be delighted to know Luca will be returning in 2024 and we look forward to his continued development and success in the upcoming season.

Men’s Head coach David Morrell had this to say about re-signing Luca:

“Luca is a remarkable young man and a guy we definitely wanted back. He was Champion Division Captain last year, and at the age of only 20 he is developing into a high-level leader. He’s amazing for our culture and we expect him to be a young leader within both the NBL1 and D-League squads. He’s a high IQ point guard that works his tail off defensively and puts in heaps of extra time in to develop his game. That work ethic, on top of significant natural talent, will hopefully carry his potential forward as a young, developing player. I believe in Luca, and he helps our depth at the guard spot.”

Luca had this to say about re-signing with the club:

“Resigning with The Wolfpack was a no brainer; we came so close to our goal last year and there is nothing else I’d like more than to win a championship for the Wolves. We easily have the best fans in the league and the energy, advantage that they bring to our team whether its home or away is second to none. There is no other fanbase I would want to play for. The dedication that David, the coaching staff and the club has for player development and the progression in my game through the past two years under David is another reason why it was such an easy choice on returning next year.

I truly believe that the culture we are building and the group of players we have, will not only surpass the accomplishments from last year but build something special for years to come. I would like to say thank you for David and Andrew with providing me with another opportunity to represent the club I love and to the fight for the trophy in 2024. Go Wolfpack!”

Luca joins teammates CJ Turnage, Jordan Wellsteed, Christian Jurlina and Caleb Davis for the Joondalup Wolves in the upcoming 2024 NBL1 West season!
