The Chambers Franklyn City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the signing of 6’9 NBL1 All-Star Caleb Davis for the 2024 & 2025 NBL1 West seasons.

Caleb Davis is an established league professional and dominant force on the basketball court. Caleb’s playing abilities and leadership qualities were recognised early in his career, where he was named Captain of the WA State Team which featured future NBA, NBL and NBL1 talent including Wolves teammate Jordan Wellsteed.

In college Caleb played for NCAA Division II school Saginaw Valley State University where he established himself as a lethal scorer and versatile defender. Caleb played in 115 total games and helped lead the team to their first-ever appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2016 alongside current Wolves superstar CJ Turnage. Caleb graduated with a double degree in Bachelor of Finance and Bachelor of Business Administration in 2017.

After graduating, Caleb signed with Australian NBL team the Adelaide 36’ers before returning to his Junior club the Warwick Senators. Across 70 total games in the NBL1, Caleb has averaged 18.2 points and 7 rebounds a game, winning multiple Player of the Week awards. In 2022 Caleb was named to the NBL1 West All-Star 5 and was top 10 in MVP votes for the 2023 season.

Caleb is an elite level talent and leader that we are thrilled to have as an integral piece of our team for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Men’s Head coach David Morrell had this to say about signing Caleb:

“Caleb is a huge free agency signing and one that we are extremely excited about. The last two seasons, he has been the leading Australian-born candidate in the NBL1 West MVP race. That’s an objective measure that he has been around the mark as the best local Australian player in the league the last couple years.

He’s the best shooting big in the league and from playing against him, I am well aware of the nightmares he causes to opposing defences. Caleb was also a DPOY nominee last year and overall, a great guy and a great addition to a team culture that is going to be about team success first and foremost. We expect Caleb to come in and immediately lead from the front, both on the court and in the locker room.”

Caleb had this to say about signing with the Wolves:

“Firstly, I’d like to thank everybody at Warwick, especially my past teammates for all the years of comradery, success, and friendship we have shared. I have made life-long friends there and will always be grateful for my time at Warwick.

I am now super excited to start the next chapter in my basketball career with the Wolves and really excited about reuniting with my college teammate, CJ. It was always a goal of ours to play together again after college and we are stoked and thankful to Andrew & David for making it happen.

We return a really exciting core group of guys, and I am looking forward to bringing my energy and effort to compliment the pieces we have already. The Wolves fans can expect to see an exciting and potent offense this year along with a team that will bring that dog mentality on the defensive end. We have a group full of hungry guys ready to go one step further than last year and I can’t wait to get to work.”

Caleb joins Christian Jurlina, CJ Turnage and Jordan Wellsteed for the Joondalup Wolves in the upcoming 2024 NBL1 West season!
