The 2025 WABL Quarter Finals got underway last weekend, with the Wolfpack looking to secure all-important spots in he upcoming semi-finals.
The U12 Champs Girls defeated Hills Raiders 40-30 including 15 big points from Azalea Keating. They look forward to their matchup with Cockburn. The U12 Girls Green saw there season come to an end with 1 pt loss, 46-47. Evelyn Carr made a freethrow to give the Wolves the 46-45 lead but the opposition were able to score a 2-pt basket that the Wolves were unable to overcome. It was a great season for this team and we look forward to their continued development in the coming years! The U12 Girls White were successful in winning 45-37 against Lakeside 2s and lock in a matchup with Willetton 3s in the Semi Final. The Ruby Keay and Ruby Chadd combination tallied 33 points for the Wolves. The U12-4 Girls dropped Cougars 4s 40-30 with Yasmine Kailis leading all scorers with 10. They land themselves a semifinal against Flames 2s. The U12 Girls have 3 teams headed into the Semifinals. All 3 games will take place at Bendat Basketball Centre at 11:30am.
The U14 Champs Girls were beaten 33-46 by the Flames. It ends what has been a great season of basketball for the group! The U14-2 Girls defeated Willetton 58-37 and await their matchup with Cougars 2s in the Semifinal at Bendat, 1:15pm. The U14-3 Girls were victorious against the Suns, 48-22. They will have a tough test with the 7-seed Slammers Red who pulled a big upset on the weekend. That game will also be at Bendat at 1:15pm. The U14-4 Girls defeated Hills 2s, 65-42 and will aim to perform well against Lakeside 3s at Wally Hagan, 8am.
The U16 Champs Girls we impressive in their effort over Mandurah, 63-50. They have the challenge of Lakeside Lightning ahead of them; no doubt that Heath Bradley will have them ready to battle. The U16 Girls Green defeated Flames 3s, 84-32 and await Lakeside 3s in the Semifinals at Wally Hagan, 12pm. The U16 Girls White defeated Willetton 62-48 to lock in a matchup with 4-seed Mandurah at Wally Hagan, 8am. The U16-4 Girls trailed the Eagles by 2 in the dying embers of the game and then Mackenzie Fuller had a huge And-1 opportunity that she converted to help give the Wolves the 48-47 victory! A semifinal matchup with Slammers 3s is scheduled for 2pm at Willetton.
The U18 Champs Women were impressive in their matchup against top-seed Cockburn, trading the 1st half lead several times despite trailing 30-36 at halftime. The Wolves battled valiantly but came up short, 55-79. This team played some quality basketball over their final stretch of games and should have momentum heading into next season! The U18 Women Green defeated Suns 97-37 and will look for a similar result against Warwick 3s in their semifinal at Wally Hagan, 10am. The U18 Women White defeated 60-86 to bring to the end a really fun season as individuals and a collective. The U18-4 Women were defeated 58-74 by the Mandurah Magic. It was a great season for this team that played together and with a high intensity throughout the year.
The U21 Women took care of their quarterfinal matchup, 66-48 and look to prevail against the Hawks at Bendat, 7pm with the ambition to qualify for the Grand Final.
The U12 Champs Boys won 80-40 down in Rockingham against the Flames to secure their semifinal against Tigers at Bendat, 8am. The U12-2 Boys had a tough start to the game that they weren’t able to recover from. This performance shouldn’t spoil what was a great 11-5 regular season effort that this team turned in! The arrow is pointing up on this lot. The U12-3 Boys managed a nervy 78-75 win over Tigers 2s. Lennox Nind and Xavier Turner combined for 38 Wolfpack Points. With the win the Wolfpack earn themselves a semifinal at Bendat, 8am against Lakeside. The U12-4 Boys will be on the road at Wally Hagan for their semifinal against Cockburn Blue after a 45-43 victory over Cockburn White in the quarterfinals.
The U14 Champs Boys defeated Redbacks 69-34 to lock in their matchup against Eagles, Bendat, 9:45am. The U14-2 Boys were in a tight affair from beginning to end, but ultimately lost 60-66. That brings to the end a quality season for the team as they continue to accumulate valuable experience for season to come! The U14-3 Boys were defeated by Hills 1s, 42-59. The effort and development of these boys throughout the season what very exciting to watch! The U14-4 Boys lost at the hands of Cockburn Blue and that brings to the end another quality season for this team that earned 3rd place throughout the regular season. This team has some really tremendous highlights throughout the year, especially in the 4th quarters of games.
The U16 Champs Boys will matchup with Warwick at Bendat, 3pm after a 113-63 win over Tigers. The U16-2s will get a look at the Eagles 2s in their semifinal at Wally Hagan, 2pm after their 86-64 win over Lightning 2s in the quarterfinals. The U16 Boys Green defeated U16 Boys White in an all-Wolfpack quarterfinal. The teams traded the 1st half lead before the Green side made a powerful run that White was unable to overcome. It was great to see Riley Sherburne return from injury for Green after a lengthy hiatus.
The U18 Champs Men only led by 6 entering the 4th quarter but were able to pour it on during the final frame to secure the victory over Warwick. Jeremiah Gatluak was exceptional, particularly in the 1st half. Wieu Atuer had 27 points including 3 spectacular dunks. The entirety of the roster contributed the the Wolfpack’s quarterfinal victory. Next up, Willetton at Bendat, 7pm. The U18-2 Men as their season grind to a halt with a 86-94 defeat against Redbacks. It was 2-5 point game throughout the 4th but the Wolves were unable to take a 4th quarter lead despite their efforts. The U18 Men Green will be in action against Flames, at Wally Hagan, 10am. The U18 Men White earned themselves a semifinal matchup against Tigers 3s, scheduled for 4pm at Wally Hagan. Their quarterfinal effort showed the balance of their team as well as the explosion of 30 points that Tyler Hirt was able to provide. This team is spectacular viewing.
The U20 Champs Men lost a heartbreaking end of season game at the hands of the Eagles, 86-88. This was a chippy, high-intensity affair from the beginning to the end and the fight and comradery of this team was on full display throughout. The U20-2 Men came out with a terrific disposition and established an early 12-5 advantage. However, it would the the Redbacks 1s that went into the half with the 8-point lead. Throughout the 2nd half the Wolves just couldn’t get enough shots to go down to keep the game within striking distance, falling in the end, 91-118.
