WABL Recap – Round 4!

Wolfpack Basketball
May 20, 2025

Wolfpack WABL teams played their round 4 games this weekend. As a collective, Wolves teams had a terrific 23-14 record.

Unfortunately, an undefeated 4-0 record was not possible this Sunday for the U12 Girls group because the U12-2 team and U12-3 team were playing against each other. But the U12 Girls cohort did boast the best possible record as a collective, winning 3 and losing 1. Our U12 Champs team had an 11-point win over Hills. The U12-4 Girls won by 6 over Mandurah Gold. And in the Wolves v Wolves battle, a terrific Q2 by team 2 got them to a solid halftime lead, but the game remained competitive, with a second half score of 24-19. The game was well-played, and ended as a solid victory for team 2.

The U12 Boys were 2-2 on the weekend. Team 4 and Team 3 both had losses. Team 3 had a heartbreaking 2-point loss to Lakeside, fighting hard down the stretch but falling just short. Team 2 had a blowout win over Hills 1s, winning 75-26.  The Champs boys had a 22-6 second quarter, and a 18-0 fourth quarter, mixed with 2 close and competitive quarters to roll to another big win.

The U14 Girls had a 2-2 weekend as well. The Champs team fell short against an undefeated Cockburn team, and Team 2 fell just 6-points short against a strong Willetton side. Team 3 got a solid 47-33 win over the Slammers. Team 4 got a terrific 50-34 win over Cockburn. They started hot with a 13-3 first quarter and continued the lead from there.

The U14 boys had a 2-2 weekend as well. The U14-2 Boys lost to Willetton 61-75. The U14-3 Boys had a terrific game but ultimately fell just one point short against an East Perth 2’s side. The U14-Champs Boys had another dominant performance, jumping out to a 12-0 lead, and eventually being up 48-17 after 3 quarters versus Lakeside 1s. They won by 33. Team 4 had a close game the whole way in Cockburn and came out victorious in a 53-50 game.

The U16 Girls had a 3-1 record on the day. The 16 Champs Girls were very impressive in their efforts this weekend, winning against a formerly undefeated Lakeside team by a dominant margin of 107-51. Team 2 continued their undefeated early season run with a 62-53 win over East Perth’s 2s while Team 3 had a 55-43 win over Willetton. Team 4 had a tougher day with a loss against the Slammers, on the road in Bunbury.

The U16 Boys were also 3-1 on the day. Team 1 Boys won 112-62 against Cockburn. After a couple of close losses, the U16-2 Boys broke through with a big 30-point win over the Perry Lakes Hawks. It was a 1-point game at halftime, but the boys came out firing on both ends of the floor in the second half for a massive run. Team 3 moved to 4-0 on the season with a good 12-point win over East Perth. Team 4 fell short in the early morning game up the hill in Kalamunda vs the Suns.

The U18 Girls were 2-2 on the weekend. The Champs girls ran into a very tough Cockburn side and had a loss. Team 2 won 101-45 versus Lakeside’s 2s. Team 3 won 67-45 against the Suns on the road. Team 4 had a tough game against Lakeside’s 3s and fell short 44-75.

The U18 boys were undefeated with a record of 4-0 on the weekend. The Champs Men won convincingly 107-77 over Lakeside despite missing a couple players.  Team 2 had a close game with many players contributing to the win. Taj Jeffery hit a couple clutch free-throws down the stretch to ice the game, and the Wolves won 83-79. Team 3 beat Rockingham 79-63. Team 4 beat Slammers 97-73. Great job U18 Men on a terrific Sunday!

The U21 Champs Women lost 59-66 to the Cockburn Cougars. The U20 Champs Men won a close game against the Suns, prevailing 94-87. U20 Men Team 2 lost to East Perth by 12-points.

The D-League Men remain an undefeated 7-0 after a 25-point win over Mandurah. While the D-League Women fell 8-points short to Mandurah and move to 3-3.

Keep up the good work! 90-55 as a club to start the season, good for a 62%-win rate. Keep working hard!
