Wolfpack WABL teams played their round 8 games this weekend. As a collective, Wolves teams had a terrific record of 23-14 this Sunday.
Junior Champs teams went 7-1 on the day, while senior Champs teams had a tougher day at 1-3. But overall, it was another terrific Sunday for the Wolfpack.
The U12 Girls went 2-2 on the day. The Champs Girls were victorious over Lakeside by a 14-point margin, 52-38. Team 2 fought until the end but fell just one point short for a 39-40 loss. Team 3 had a big win of 41-17 over East Perth. Team 4 had a close 23-30 loss over Eastern Suns.
The U12 Boys were 2-2 on the day. The U12-Champs Boys remain undefeated with a convincing win over the Lakeside Lightning. The U12-2 Boys lost in a heartbreaker to Slammers 1s by a single score. Team 3 had a big win over Lakeside. Team 4 lost by just 5 points to the Redbacks despite a tough 5-16 first quarter.
The U14 Girls went 2-2 as well. The Champs team had a close, one possession loss to Lakeside. Team 2 started the game down 16-3 against the Redbacks 1st team, but then responded with a 15-2 2nd quarter to take a lead at halftime. The girls then pulled away in a terrific 4th quarter to seal the deal for a win. Team 3 lost to Rockingham 2’s by a score of 43-61. Team 4 won 44-39 against Redbacks 3s.
The U14 boys went a perfect 4-0 on the day. The Champs boys had by far their closest game of the year with a 3-point win over East Perth, but they do remain unbeaten. Team 2 had a thriller against Cockburn that came down to the Wolves up 2 under 10 seconds, and the Wolves defense stepping up. They blocked a shot on that final possession, followed by a putback fadeaway attempt that was heavily contested and a miss. And time expired with the Wolves still up 2. Team 3 got a 15-point win over Rockingham 3s. Team 4 got a 73-36 victory over the Slammers 3s.
The U16 Girls also went a perfect 4-0. The Champs girls won 76-66 against East Perth and move to second place on the ladder with a record of 6-2. Team 2 beat Rockingham 80-53. Team 3 beat East Perth 73-57. Team 4 beat the Eastern Suns 44-37. Congratulations to the U16 girls teams for a very successful day.
The U16 Boys went 1-3. Team 1 got a big win against Warwick 95-71. Team 2 lost by 10 to Lakeside. Team 3 also lost to Lakeside, but by an even closer score of 74-78. This was really just a story of the 4th quarter as the Wolves went into the quarter up by 14 and then ended up losing. A tough finish. Team 4 also had a good game and a close, tough finish. They lost to East Perth 75-82.
The U18 Women went 3-1 on the day. The Champs team got a terrific 60-51 victory over the Redbacks. Team 2 beat East Perth by a score of 74-50. Team 3 won against Lakeside by a score of 41-33. Team 4 fell short in the end, falling to Mandurah Gold by a score of 50-63. After a 7-23 first quarter deficit, Julien Tickel’s squad made adjustments and played some good basketball, but they couldn’t make up that initial gap.
The U18 Men were 3-1 on the weekend. The U18 Champs Men won 89-84 in a rematch of the Round 1 thriller and this match didn’t disappoint either. Team 2 had a very high scoring game against Redbacks, and ultimately fell 3-points short – 105-108. Team 3 had a huge win over Rockingham by a score of 100-58. Team 4 beat Rockingham as well, by a score of 94-81.
The senior teams had a record of 2-3. U21 Women lost to Perry Lakes by a score of 71-82. The U20 Champs Men lost to East Perth by a score of 74-89. The U20 Team 2 Men had a massive blowout win over Mandurah by a score of 111-68. The D-League Men suffered their second loss of the year and move to 9-2 on the year, still first place on the ladder. The D-League Women had a great 77-71 victory over Perry Lakes and move to 6-3 on the year.
