The Chambers Franklyn City of Joondalup Wolves are excited to announce the re-signing of NBL1 Men’s Head Coach David Morrell for the 2024 & 2025 NBL1 West Seasons!
As Head Coach for the past two years, David has been instrumental in developing and cultivating a winning team culture, bringing the Men’s squad deep into the NBL1 West Finals in both seasons with him at the helm, including a heart-breaking runner up finish this season.
David is a well-respected and loved member of the Wolfpack and Wanneroo Basketball Association, and we are excited to have him continue for the next two seasons.
When asked about his re-signing, David said:
“I am thrilled to have signed on for another 2 years of leading the Joondalup Wolves Men’s NBL1 team. The past two years, we feel like as a staff and as a front office, we have been building a program that is going in the right direction. The fans, facilities, level of professionalism, and everything else here in Joondalup are second to none.
Each year we have made progress. In 2022 we came third and lost in the prelims. In 2023 we got one step further but had a couple bad minutes of basketball in the Grand Final and fell just short. As a coaching staff and playing group, 2024 cannot come around soon enough because we are dying to get back to work and make the necessary improvements to get all the way this year. Two years in, I feel like we have built an identity for the program, what we are trying to build, and the type of high character people we need around the program to achieve the ultimate success.
The front office, coaching staff, and playing group are all in alignment going the same direction, and because of that, I am excited to see what we can do as a group the next two years here in Joondalup.”
Joondalup Wolves CEO, Andrew Summerville had this to say about David’s re-signing.
“I could not be prouder of David and the success he has had the last two years. I am extremely pleased he will be with us for another two seasons. He has our men’s program exactly where it needs to be, and I am confident we will continue to be a dominant force in the NBL1 moving forward. It was really important for us to have some continuity in our programs so with David back and some of the core playing group back we can’t wait to see the team back out on the floor.”
David is the first official signing for the 2024 NBL1 West Men’s squad.
